In mid-wood silence, thus, how sweet to be;
Where all the noises that on peace intrude,
Come from the chittering cricket, bird and bee,
Whose songs have charms to sweeten solitude.

We – and you – did it!! Thank you so much for all the wonderful support and generous donations to the crowdfunder for our Woodland Classroom. We’ve met and surpassed our target of £38,000 which means the work can start now to get this new learning space on the ground. We’ve been truly overwhelmed by the goodwill and generosity towards Organiclea these last months and we look forward to all the opportunities this new space can offer for land-based learning and connection with nature.
We’ll be sending rewards out in the next month, and preparing for the classroom build. As well as finalising the design, we’ll be clearing ground (carefully to minimise wildlife disturbance) and installing padstones for the structural posts to stand on. We’ll also be planning how volunteers and participants at our site can be involved in creating and finishing the classroom over this winter and next spring. We’ll keep everyone updated about opportunities to take part and progress through our email list – you can join it here if you’re not already subscribed.
We’ll be working with Adrian Leaman – see his Wholewoods website for more information about reciprocal-framed roundwood buildings and how they are built.
Find the original crowdfunder page here. If you still wish to donate after 30 September, just get in touch with us on info[at]organiclea.org.uk and we can arrange it. Funds that are not needed for the building will go towards running the activities we have planned for the space, and supporting people to get involved.
