This month’s Open Day at Hawkwood Plant Nursery is on Sunday 30 June. As always it’s an opportunity to enjoy this beautiful site and take part in seasonal gardening activities, and on this summer occasion also to celebrate the life and work of the peasant poet John Clare. We have decided to decree a John Clare Day: Poetry against Power.
John Clare lived and wrote in this forest and has provided inspiration for our work here. Join us to explore and celebrate with a poetry themed site tour and the official opening of Hawkwood’s Poets’ Corner.
Sunday 30 June 12 – 4pm at Hawkwood Plant Nursery, 115 Hawkwood Crescent, Chingford E4 7UH.
throughout the day: seasonal gardening activity and self-guided tours
1-2pm: lunch, soup available by donation
2-4pm: site tour and official opening of Poets’ Corner
Entry free, all welcome.
