Job Opportunities – Horticulture Tutor, and Supported Activities Worker
We are seeking to fill two roles in our Community Learning and Inclusion team at OrganicLea: a Supported Activities Worker (3 days per week with potential to expand) and a Horticulture Tutor (average 3 days per week).
The team bring people and plants together, supporting more people to grow food through formal accredited training, work experience, volunteering and community learning activities. Through this work we support health and wellbeing, build community and challenge marginalisation, encouraging an informed and reflective relationship with food.
The Supported Activities Worker will focus on creating accessible pathways for participants with a range of additional needs, managing referral partnerships, social prescribing and mentoring scheme, to enable those with neuro-diversity, ill mental health or other needs to benefit from what OrganicLea has to offer.
The Horticulture Tutor will plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate L1 and L2 accredited courses as agreed with the team (including some weekend delivery), as well as contributing to wider activities in the team.
For both roles we’re looking for someone with a passion for food growing, and for helping people recover and realise their potential in an outdoor work-based setting. We also want people who can join our workers’ co-operative and share responsibility as Directors of OrganicLea for the organisation’s governance as well as playing an active role in the Community, Learning and Inclusion team.
More detailed tasks and responsibilities, and the skills and qualities we are seeking, are set out in the job pack for each role.
