As the first month of the new year draws towards its close, it must be time for
another Open Day at Hawkwood. Each month this year will feature a different
vegetable, and theme to accompany it. As the Open Day on Sunday 30th January
coincides with National Potato day, this month’s star will be the humble spud.
So as usual the site is open 12noon – 4pm. Come to have a look around, take a
tour around this beautiful site, join in seasonal volunteer tasks, and purchase
some delicious Milva potatoes, grown here at Hawkwood “They’re waxy, boil
well, and are excellent eaten hot or cold.”
There will also be the opportunity to place an order with us for organic seed
potatoes, as well as other seeds, so you can begin to make plans for the
upcoming growing season. We are offering this as a one-off opportunity at this
time of year; we will then place a bulk order and you can collect your order
from Hawkwood or the Hornbeam Centre.
Drop in any time from 12-4pm (bring a packed lunch if staying for the day, we eat at 1pm).
