This Autumn we are hosting several short courses at Hawkwood including introductory courses to permaculture and forest gardening with Graham Burnett and an advanced mushroom cultivation course with Darren Le Baron.
Permaculture and Forest Gardening introductory courses
Graham Burnett, author of ‘Permaculture a Beginner’s Guide’ and ‘The Vegan Book of Permaculture’, will be running a couple of one-day introductory courses at Organiclea.
INTRODUCTION TO URBAN PERMACULTURE
SATURDAY 22nd OCTOBER, 10am to 4.30pm
So what IS permaculture? This one day workshop will show you how to apply permaculture ethics, principles and design to your own garden, community and life!
FOREST GARDENING FOR SMALL SPACES
SATURDAY 19th NOVEMBER, 10am to 4.30pm
Learn how the low maintenance, sustainable food growing principles of forest gardening can be replicated in the smallest of urban gardens or community spaces, including public parks, allotments and school grounds.
Cost: One day is £50, both days £85. Concession fee for those on benefits or low income is £40 for one day or £65 for both days.

Advanced mushroom cultivation course
Darren Le Baron is known around the world for his Shroomshop Masterclasses and is a keen mushroom cultivator and teacher.

Come and expand your mushroom cultivation knowledge and learn new growing techniques in this 2 day course designed for people who already know the basics. It is perfect for anyone who has attended any of Darren’s previous Shroomshops for Beginners. The course has been designed to support previous attendees with their next steps and progression on their mushroom cultivation journeys. If you haven’t attended one of his beginners courses you can still join in.
Cost: £250 / £200 concession. Refreshments and lunch included.
