Hawkwood Nursery, Sunday 26 April, 5am and 12-4pm
This month’s open day has an additional element for early risers: come and listen to the amazing dawn chorus on this forest edge, with expert guidance from wildlife photographer David Cottridge. Tea and coffee on offer and then we encourage you to go for a walk (or snooze) in the forest before the open day proper begins. Which features a plant sale and free compost giveaway, opportunity to take part in a seasonal horticultural task and see around the site, as well as forest school and Anja returns with her delicious coffee and cake stall. Bring your own sacks to bag up greenwaste compost, and browse our first full plant stall of the season – tomato plants and more, including lots of herbs, companion flowers, fruit plants (including apple trees) and the famous Walthamstow Yellow Cress.
