Our next Open Day is Sunday 27 July 12-4pm at Hawkwood Community Plant Nursery, this month with a herbal theme.
We will be celebrating the medicinal uses of wild plants and launching a range of Organiclea herbal teas from plants foraged and grown around the site. We’ll be joined by herbalists who will guide us on a special site tour, looking at wild plants, often seen as weeds in the garden, which hold medicinal properties that we can use.
After months of collecting both the fresh spring leaves and summer flowers of plants growing around the site, drying them and combining different herbs for healing tea mixes; we are very excited to launch these teas onto our market stalls. We have used 15 different herbs in these mixes including some star players such as nettle, elderflower, horsetail, lime flower, mint, red clover and borage! This Open Day we will have a tea ceremony trying these 3 blends, with packets available to buy afterwards.
July is also a great chance to come and see the abundance of plants growing in full vigour on the site – tomatoes, cucumbers, basil and more!
