Hawkwood Open Day, Sunday 24 June, 12-4pm
This month’s open day focus will be rainwater harvest and strawberry harvest, and a children’s art activity.
We are hoping to attract a good group of energetic volunteers to spend the afternoon with us preparing our second water tank for its harvest of rain.
Huf (our site’s maintenance worker) will lead an introduction session ‘setting up your own rainwater harvest system’ from 11.30-12. Then we encourage you to stay for the day to keep on working, talking and sharing!
In addition there will be a drop in children’s art workshop throughout the open day, creating a ‘food forest’ out of reclaimed materials. All ages welcome!
Freshly picked strawberries will also be for sale – and specially priced strawberry plants too (so you can grow your own for years to come, watered by the rain!)
The day runs from 12-4pm – drop by at anytime or stay for the day – we break for lunch between 1.30-2pm .. bring a packed lunch and join us.
All welcome – and it’s also a good time to catch us for general gardening chat… Directions to the site are at www.organiclea.org.uk, see ‘finding us’ or you can call 020 8524 4994
